  • Q. My amaze (petrol CVT) is giving mileage of 9 kmpl in city. Is there any way to increase it's mileage.

    @ Alfred | CVTs driving is an art, they are supposed to be generally well behaved engines. Check with your dealer about your driving style, next will be, make the service engineer to drive your car, probably the fuel injection system etc.

    You have to : 1) ensure best grade of engine oil 10W40 - - religiously replaced every 6,000 kms2) ensure original OEM spark plugs OR NGK Iridium spark plugs 3) ensure all Belts ( timing, engine, AC ) are firm ( replace after 15/20k as per the service manual with engineers at honda service center)4) Ensure AC alternator* belt, ignition /timing etc. working well5) replace Air filter, Engine oil filter, Cabin (ac) filter as per schedule -- do not save money on these.Now -- its upto your driving style : I have an Amaze 2015 SAT Petrol model -- I always drive with ECO mode visible ( don't overdo the accelerator and brakes -- go easy and accelerate gradually accelerate) -- and I easily get 11 to 12 kmpl with AC on ( not all the way up -- midway) , and 13 to 14.5 kmpl w/o AC . I do use DRIVE mode ( non ECO) but its only 30% of the time.

    @ Devashish | No there is no chances to increase the mileage of your car and please don't open your engine then it will be the world's badest engine

    Please check with your mechanic/advisor -- above items mentioned DO NOT NEED TO OPEN ENGINE. If you check your maintenance schedule with the mechanic - he will guide you about need to replace belts/filters etc. every certain kilometres of running. I have posted AFTER my actual experience ON A USED CAR 2015 automatic model. As also concurred by many persons posting online, driving style is a major contributor to getting superb mileage with CVTs i.e to avoid jerky accelerate and brake patterns while driving.
