It shouldn't be so. I drove entire of sikkim & Darjeeling in my Tiago XE with 3 passenger and luggage. Yes, I admit that I had to work out this 3 p*t machine more than the usual 4 pot, but she managed well. I am a bit surprised. In fact I did almost a 40° incline uphill (amid downhill traffic) near Pelling. It was heck of a drive but she pulled out well. Only 1 thing for your knowledge, I replaced my stock tyres with an upgrade after I took delivery of my car. If it helps..

In slope areas tiago struggles a bit.. This is happening because when you starts to drive from the bottom of the hill with first gear, the engine will not pull with whole luggage, as the flywheel is not storing too much energy for the initial pull. And also its 3 cylinder engine. For rectify this problem you have to store the energy in fly wheel by initial racing the engine or running the car for 5 or 10 meters before climbing up the hill. It should be done continuously..

THis is true tiago power is low in compare to other company car segments. I drove tiago XE to darjeling, gangtok, peeling with 3 passengers and luggage. So, driving on hills experience required and you have to work little harder.Simillary, its reverse is bit bad in power. So drive carefully. On hills, you will find maruti company cars specially wagon R.
