Firstly the BMW 5 Series 520d is a diesel car. Whereas, the 530i variant is a petrol car. The power delivery is 190bhp and 252bhp respectively. As far as the mileage is concerned, they are 22.48 kmpl and 15.01 kmpl respectively. For a detailed comparison, follow the below link - Compare. If you drive less than 1500 km a month (50kms a day), you don’t need a diesel. The petrol engine is a lot more refined and is a lot more quiet and powerful. Yes, the diesel is more efficient, but it doesn’t mean it is cheaper to have a diesel engine unless you have a lot of running. Diesel is cheaper to run. But diesel cars are more expensive. If you do not have too much running, petrol makes it an ideal pick. Moreover, you can have a test drive of the cars for a better idea of comfort and drive quality by visiting the nearest dealer in your city.
