Q. Hello Arun, I have been researching about SUVs (6/7 seater) and didn't quite like Fortuner or Endeavor primarily because of lack of plush interiors and rugged drive. I have decided to test drive Kodiaq. Please suggest on this. Also, can you guide me on buying a pre-owned Merc ML or an Audi Q7 ? Is it worth to buy these luxury cars in pre-owned conditions and that too from the local dealer. e.g. I am getting a 2013 Merc ML which has done 35,000 kms at a asking rate of Rs. 32 lacs and a 2014 Audi Q7 which has done 60,000 kms at a asking rate of 38 lacs. Hi Nishant! Thanks for writing in. If luxury is a key parameter, then the Kodiaq will suit your requirements well. Alternatively, if you aren't going to be using the third row quite often, do conside the Volkswagen Tiguan as well. Is it worth buying a used ML or Q7? In my opinion, only if you've known the owner personally. These cars are prone to air suspension failures, part and labour costs for which run into a couple of lakhs easily. You might run into issues with spare part availability as well. The basics (including the oil/air filter, brake pads et al) are readily available. Pretty much everything else is ordered basis a requirement. Irrespective of the low running of the two cars you mentioned, I'd suggest you exercise some caution. My opinion: If you're spending that kind of money, peace of mind needs to be non-negotiable. A new car with a 4 year warranty will give you that. Hope this helps sir.
