The KTM 390 Duke has always come across as a value for money product and the new variant takes the VFM quotient a notch up as it looks a lot more irresistible now. It gets an LED headlight unit and colour display that we like a lot and also handles beautifully with its aptly tuned suspension setup. Also, while it may not be as quick as the earlier 390, it certainly is a lot more refined. The 390 Duke is a wild beast and is meant for a lot more experienced riders and thrill seekers. On the other hand, if you are looking for a light, powerful, sharp-handling sportsbike, then the RC 390 is the right tool to opt for, especially considering its value-for-money quotient. The updates have made the new RC 390 friendlier with the addition of ride-by-wire technology and improved braking. However, the riding posture is very committed and the bike is more suited for track use rather than a tool for the daily commute. RC 390 is a fully faired bike with a front leaning stance. This may not be very comfortable for some riders. Besides, riding for a long time may result in a stiff back. Most importantly, the rider has to LEARN the skills needed to handle the bike in an emergency situation with regards to quick braking. I feel that the Duke with its upright driving position is a better choice. But it is imperative that you test drive and get a feel of the vehicle.
