Overview

A Unique Scooter?

• The Jitendra EV Yunik is a family-oriented electric scooter which has a design language similar to Vespa scooters
• It offers a decent claimed range and has enough features to keep you occupied
• The Yunik handles quite well but comes at the cost of stiff suspension, which hampers the ride quality

Design

A Familiar Silhouette

• The Yunik has a design language which we have previously seen on Vespa scooters in India
• The round LED headlight, round mirrors and curvy body panels go well with the theme of the scooter
• While the scooter does look good from afar, come close, and panel gaps along with exposed wires are visible
• The body panels rattle when you go through rough roads which will hamper your riding experience

Performance & Mileage

Snappy and Capable

• The Yunik gets a hub-mounted motor which has great low-end punch especially in Sports mode
• This allows the scooter to accelerate quickly up to 50kmph without breaking a sweat
• The throttle calibration is quite good and there is little to no lag in the response
• The Drive mode is quite good to ride in the city as the throttle response in toned down making for a pleasurable experience
• The claimed top speed of 72kmph is quite low for highway riding
• It takes some time to reach the top speed after 50kmph

Should Be Enough

• Gets a 3.8kWh removable LMFP (Lithium Manganese Ferro-Phospate) battery pack, which delivers a claimed range of 118km on a full charge and should be enough for most people
• The battery can be charged in 4 hours without removing it
• While the range if sufficient, it might not be enough for anyone who has a daily long commutes and will require frequent charging

A Sporty Scooter In Disguise

• The Yunik handles quite well for its size
• The scooter takes on corners without any difficulty and feels very agile
• It holds the line well and inspires the rider with confidence
• The rear brake is sharp and allows the scooter to shed speed quickly
• The front brake does not have any bite and, despite applying a lot of pressure, fails to bring the scooter to a halt quickly

• The suspension setup is on the stiffer side, which means that the scooter feels settled at highway speeds
• On smooth roads, the ride quality is quite good
• The firm setup means you will be bouncing around quite a bit, especially at city speeds and while facing any undulations

• The scooter is quite big in person and has a large floorboard space for luggage
• The seat is well padded and long enough to accommodate two adults comfortably
• The riding posture is upright, and you sit quite high, which gives you a great view of the road ahead

• The brake levers graze your knuckles when you wear riding gloves

• One has to take their hands off the handlebar to press the switches, which can be hazardous
