Expect a fresher, meaner look and a new engine under that big bonnet!

Isuzu DMax VCross Facelift

Isuzu India has swung into action, updating its passenger vehicle offerings to conform with the upcoming BSVI emission norms. We’ve already discussed the updated version of the MU-X seven-seater SUV, which was spotted testing a couple of months ago. This time around, it’s Isuzu’s much-loved pick-up truck, the V-Cross, that’s been snapped by the paparazzi.

The test mule was snapped wearing heavy camouflage, but it can be easily identified as a V-Cross. More importantly, it won’t take one too long to figure out that the updates are in line with the Thai-spec version of the pick-up. It’s quite easy to spot the updated front fascia replete with a redesigned bumper, fog lamp enclosures, a revised grille as well as new headlamps with daytime running lamps. The other major change on the exterior is the new set of 18-inch alloy wheels, which look quite similar to the ones on the MU-X.

While the interior hasn’t been snapped yet, we do not expect changes to be major here. Isuzu could, at best, offer different upholstery, a newer touchscreen and an updated instrument cluster. Earlier this year, Isuzu updated the V-Cross with features like leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. These are expected to be carried forward as is.

Under the bonnet of the 2019 V-Cross will possibly be the new 1.9-litre diesel motor that’s available in the Thai-spec version. This engine makes 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque (+10PS/+30Nm compared to the current 2.5) and is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There’s no word on whether Isuzu will choose to offer the automatic transmission in India. That said, we seriously hope they do.

Currently, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is priced between Rs 14.32 lakh and Rs 16.31 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The pick-up received a price hike earlier this year and, with the update, we expect prices to go further north.
