Hyundai Motors has achieved a milestone with the sales of 60 lakh cars in Europe. The car manufacturer claims that it took them 19 years to sell their first ten lakh cars in Europe, but the latest ten lakh cars were sold in a short span of two years.
The sales growth comes as result of Hyundai's investment in its local infrastructure, as a part of their strategy to build cars specifically to meet the needs of their European customers. The motoring giant has invested more than Rs 24,874 crore in this infrastructure which includes manufacturing and research and development (R&D).
The South Korean automaker has setup a technical centre at Russelsheim, Germany which designs and develops 95 per cent of the cars that Hyundai sells in Europe. The motoring giant has two manufacturing plants, one each, in Czech Republic and Turkey where 90 per cent of the cars are built. The Czech manufacturing plant builds 3,00,000 units per year, while the Turkish facility has an annual capacity of 2,00,000 units per annum.
