That depends on your preference. Both cars got their own set of pros & cons. While the new Verna have had a complete makeover while the city is still on a older platform albeit with a minor cosmetic change. With a Verna u"d get much better NVH package, class leading features, Hyundai's tremendous service backup, Excellent build quality, very good engine gearbox package & cost ownership is cheap too compared to its direct competitors. Cons a bit low on space compared to city, meagre less enthusiastic engine. Now coming to Honda it's pluses are the class leading engine gearbox package, very good overall space, mechanical refinement but short on NVH compared to Verna, quality is good if not excellent. Minuses are high cost of ownership, still a old design, lesser service centre presence in tier 2,3 cities, niggling quality issues have cropped up from last generation. Choose whichever you like.

  • Q. Which is best option in hyundai verna petrol or diesel and which is economical and better in performance?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

The Hyundai Verna is available with three engine options: 1.4-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces 100PS/132Nm, while the 1.6-litre petrol engine makes 123PS/151Nm. Power figures for the 1.6-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, stand at 128PS/260Nm. Both the 1.6-litre engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the 1.4-litre engine is offered only with the 6-speed manual gearbox. If your requiremnts are only for the city comutes then 1.4 liter petrol version would be a better pick other wise if you need more power, then you can opt 1.6 liter petrol version. and if your daily usage is more than around 50km then you may opt for 1.6 diesel version. Here are the ARAI-certified figures for fuel efficiency: 17.70kmpl (petrol-MT), 15.92kmpl (petrol-AT), 24.75kmpl (diesel-MT) and 21.02kmpl (diesel-AT). Diesel if you believe in the phrase pedal to the metal & great fuel efficiency. Petrol is good too but the diesel is so much superior in every aspect that , it usually overshadows the petrol variant in sales as well overall driving experience.

No it isn't underpowered at all infact it is suffice for most of the people. Take my word. Moreover even in its 1.4 guise , it is still faster than Ciaz diesel as well almost on par with City diesel.

No... Though it is a city centric car with better low down performance rather than outright top end performance.

  • Q. Is Hyundai Verna recommended for daily commute of 120kms?
    Vikram
    Vikram | 2 months ago

If you have a driver, then it's a good option. If you're driving yourself, maybe not. The clutch is a little heavy, so if you're going to be doing the driving, consider the automatic which is a great option.

  • Q. I am planning to buy 1.6 VTVT Petrol MT, how is the petrol engine performance - Verna?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 4 months ago

Hyundai Verna's 1.6 VTVT engine won't disappoint you when it comes to the engine performance. This 1.6-litre engine is silent and the NVH leaves in the car is quite low. The car doesn't require downshifts at the speed breakers at much extent. The engine power delivery is linear and the throttle response is quick. The best performance is obtained when the tacho tickles around 350****000rpm. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test drive of the car so that you may appraise the car on the basis of your outlook toward the drive quality, features, built quality and comfort individually.Click here for the dealership: https://www.zigwheels.com/dealers/Hyundai

Frankly both are on par with each other in terms of usual criterias of driving, engine performance, fuel efficiency, build quality etc. Depends on your brand preference & loyalty. Though i'd like to add maintenance, spare parts cost, over the counter spare availability and huge service backup of Hyundai's are the areas where Verna's trumps City by miles.

Both are same in comfort but the diesel is much powerful engine. Overtaking is an ease in Diesel.
