Q. This is Amol, I planned to buy mini-SUV for my family. And after lot of research I booked 2 vehicles as i am still confused. XUV300- W8- Optional (Diesel) at 14.00 Lacs and Kia Sonet HTX (Disel)- 12 Lacs. Here are my requirements-1. This is my first car2. I do have monthly run of 1500 km. (And i already made my mind that i need Diesel and not Petrol)3. Should be good in design and should be smooth ride4. Comfort for front and back seaters as well (I am 5.11 and my wife and mother are 5.4 each)- family of 3.5. Safety is also one prime criteria.6. I can save money if possible as well. (sunroof is must and i didn't liked Nexon's design) 7. Maintenance should be low and average should be good.Please advise as i will not be keeping this vehicle for more than 5 years. So resale should also be good down the line.Any help would be appreciated :)

Both cars are good enough and have their own forte. Both cars are capable enough for city and highway drive. However, XUV300 Diesel is more powerful punchy, fun to drive, and offers better high-speed stability. If we talk about ride quality both offer great ride quality. However, Sonet is a bit more smooth to drive. In terms of comfort both cars are good enough however, Sonet offers a better rear-seat comfort as compared to XUV300. If we talk about Safety, XUV300 is a clear winner here. It is the safest car in India at its price. Mahindra XUV300 and Kia Sonet Diesel deliver claimed mileage of 20kmpl and 24.1 kmpl respectively. There is around Rs.1.8 lakh difference between both selected variants. However, you get better features list in XUV300. If we talk about the resale value it will depend on, KM driver, the physical condition of the car, insurance history, how it is driven and maintained etc. You may comoare both cars accordingly.
