MG offers the Hector with two engine options: a 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 170PS 2.0-litre diesel. Transmission options include a standard 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic for the petrol variants. The turbo-petrol manual powertrain is also available with a 48v mild-hybrid system. On the other hand, Kia Seltos is offered with three BS6-compliant engines: a 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, a 115PS diesel, and a 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) option. All three engines come paired to a 6-speed manual as standard. But, they use different automatic gearboxes. The Seltos turbo-petrol comes with a 7-speed DCT, the diesel with a 6-speed torque converter, and NA petrol with CVT. The Seltos impressed us so much that all we could complain about was a lack of under-thigh support and the rather stiff ride quality. It offers great interiors and cabin experience. And more than anything its pricing makes it one of the hottest picks in the segment. On the other hand, Hector, though, strikes a healthy middle ground. It offers an unmatched technology package with no real compromise on daily usability or practicality. It offers better power and it is spacious too. You can also compare both the cars. And do take a test drive by visiting the nearest dealership for better clarity.
