About BMW X1 2015-2020

In order to take on the likes of Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA class, BMW has offered X1 to the Indian buyers in the price range of Rs 32.4-42.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This compact SUV has all the makings of a winner and comes with typical BMW kidney grill, sharp headlamps, sporty roof rails, and dynamic rear. Inside the cabin, the quality of the materials is quite likeable and the rear bench is spacious enough to carry 3 occupants in comfort. The X1 has boot capacity rated at 420-liter. Under the Hood, BMW has offered X1 with two engine choices- 190bhp 2.0-liter diesel engine and 191bhp 2.0-liter petrol motor, both mated to 8-speed automatic transmission. The Dynamics of BMW X1 can easily be considered as the segment benchmark; especially the handling prowess of this SUV is far more accomplished than its rivals like Audi and Mercedes.

BMW X1 2015-2020 Overview

BMW will launch the X1 compact luxury SUV in India on March 5, 2020. The 2020 SUV is expected to get slightly revised exterior and interior, new features, and BS6 engines. It was unveiled in international markets in May last year.

The current-generation X1 rivals the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, and Mercedes GLA compact SUVs. It is the most affordable offering from the company in India. Debuting in 2016, the X1 was a more butch replacement for the first X1. It is based on BMW's UKL1 platform.

Under the bonnet, two engines are available in the X1: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel. The former makes 192PS of power and 280Nm of torque. The latter makes 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. It is available in both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive forms. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

Q. I am interested in BMW X1 but worried about the minimal ground clearance of just 165mm. Can this be heightened by changing the tyres? Or any other possibilities to increase the ground clearance upto 200mm?
  • We cannot increase the ground clearance by changing the wheels and the tyres. If ground clearance of 200 mm is of utmost importance, please look at the new BMW X3. The X3 has 211 mm ground clearance. Alternatively, please look at SUVs like Fortuner or Endeavor or Pajero or Isuzu. I have been driving the X1 for 2 years. So far ground clearance of 165mm was ok. Of course I do not risk with the offroading rides. I also take care to drive on roads which are reasonable as, any impact related repairs on BMW or Mercedes or Audi will be very expensive and never covered under warranty or insurance.
  • There is a diffrence in the loaded vehicle ground clearance and unloaded ground clearance.Pleaswe ensure you get both from the dealer. Next estimate how often you drive a fully loaded vehicle and then make up your mind.

  • Skoda kodiaq is better for daily drive but if you think on fuel efficency then go on bmw x1.the pricetag are similar both cars

    it is an amazing car with sporty character .throttle,steering,brakes everything is sharp so it will make us really confident behind the wheel but at the same time the suspension is little bit hard for maintaining body roll , and it works pretty well but it reducer the comfort especially in indian roads .it reduces engine noise and wind noise really well but it do have a lot of road noise but overall i think it is the best car in this price range

    It is such a nice car. Its my personal review about the car and its moonroof is better than other comparative cars. I like this car very much and BMW is a good brand. The car is having big boot space, adjustable seats and automatic gear shift with very good performance.
