Lewis Hamilton wins Austrian GP

Lewis Hamilton won the Austrian Grand Prix after his car nicked his teammate and the then race leader Nico Rosberg during the last lap of the race. Rosberg could have won his second consecutive race after his dominant victory at the Baku City Circuit, but a damaged front wing forced him down in order to the fourth position.

Tailing the German Mercedes driver were Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen who easily surpassed Nico to grab a podium finish for their respective teams, for second and third positions, respectively.

Speaking of the Mercedes duo, Rosberg got the better of Hamilton during the Brit's first pit stop during lap 20. Hamilton, however, was in his element at the Austrian circuit and was able to rise through the traffic at a steady pace.

After the pit stop, Hamilton got a new set of softer rubber, while his teammate’s tyres were rapidly wearing out. Along with this, Hamilton also got a necessary push from the DRS (Drag Reduction System), while he and Nico were fighting it out on the last lap on the run to turn two. It was at this turn that they made contact, with Hamilton going wide and off track. However, the damage to Rosberg's arrow had been done and he lost his lead straight away to Lewis.

Hamilton did put on a great show since he had to catch up with Rosberg after his first pit stop and during the last ten laps. He was very fast throughout the ten laps and ultimately trailed his teammate to the last lap showdown.

Following these first four finishes was Daniel Ricciardo, who stood fifth because of a late pit stop. Jenson Button clinched the sixth position, making this one his best finish of the season.

Sebastian Vettel Austrian GP

Sebastian Vettel was forced out of the race on lap 27 because of an unusable worn right-rear tyre. This helped Grosjean to jump Vettel to score the first race point for Haas since the Russian GP. Following him were Carlos Sainz and Valtteri Bottas in eighth and ninth place, respectively.

Like Vettel, Sergio Perez too washed out of the race on the second-last lap, bringing in an opportunity for Pascal Wehrlein to grab the tenth place (his first in the top 10 since 2010) and a point for Manor.
