Stylish and Functional But Room for Improvement

I recently bought the Renault Kiger and took it on a weekend trip from Mumbai to Goa. Its sporty design caught everyone's eye and the 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine gave a surprisingly powerful and quick performance. The ride was comfortable and the 405 liter boot space accommodated all our luggage effortlessly. What let me down was the fuel efficiency, I got around 12-14 km/l in the city which is not great for everyday commute. Also The rear seat space could be more generous specially for anyone taller.

Comfortable and good mileage

Renault Kiger is a compact SUV and its one litre turbo petrol engine is refined and get a large boot space. With RXL model i get manual transmission and it has a four star safety rating but does not get a sunroof. I feel the seats are very supportive and the space in the rear is good but the diesel engine is missing. The engine performs very nice and gives good mileage and the Caspian Blue colour is very nice in this compact SUV and the features i got with this car is practical.

Cost-effective SUV

The Kiger stands out with a stylish, bold design, especially in vibrant colors. It's surprisingly roomy inside, offering good comfort for both front and rear passengers. The turbo engine provides good pick-up for zipping through city traffic. Fuel efficiency is a concern and it gives mileage as low as 8.5 kmpl. It offers a good ride, decent performance, and comes with several features . the potential drawbacks like mileage and after-sales service before making a decision.

Convenient and Spacious Car

The Renault Kiger stand out with its innovative and best-in-segment 405-liter boot space and rear seats that can be adjusted in different ways. Its high-rise seating ease city driving so much that they're even matched by automatic transmission systems which are easy to use. The star safety record that is supported by GNCAP rating makes driving safe and secure. Lack of TPMS and sunroof would disappoint some buyers, more so is the lack of diesel engine along with some minor issues. Overall, the Kiger is a very handy and safe urban companion.

Renault Kiger Pros and Cons

Kiger Positives Points: Great looks, space and practicality, good features and wide range of petrol engines and transmissions. All at a killer price tag. New safety features and BSVI compliant engines at no extra cost.

Kiger Negatives Points: Noisy engine at high revs, Vibration felt at high speeds, No sunroof or electric driver's seat option, Limited safety features in lower variants.

Zigwheels Expert's Conclusion : A practical and balanced family car with just the right amount of frills. An affordable, yet, sensible way to enter the world of mini SUVs.

Stay away from the renault kiger i took delivery of my brand new vehicle on 11 october 2021 only to discover that this vehicle is riddled with manufacturing defects and has shady and sloppy workmanship that in my opinion is a result of being manufactured for cheap labour in india. The following was noted upon accepting delivery: - the indicator was non functional - the hazards on the vehicle remained one permanently - the clip on my bonnet was broken and stuck with prestik- the were scratch marks on the hand glove compartment - a piece of leather was hanging out at the side of the steering - the carpet on the drivers side is cut in three places and stapled together - the leather on steering appears to be pealing - there inner panels of the doors was loose on two doors with distinct gaps upon bringing the above to the attention of the dealership i was provided with cheap fixes and excuses.I was further told some of the above was characteristics of the car and all kigers would be like this. The principal of renault durban advised that she cannot replace the vehicle as the clips she replaced was valued at r10 (shocking) and refused to take liability of the other problems as her excused rendered to be sufficient. To my further horror the doors on the vehicle had manufacture defects. Both rear passenger side doors have dirt specs ingrained in the paintwork and the the doors are glazed with a clear quote of paint. The dealership initially agreed to replace the doors however upon inspection two other kigers had the same defect. The dealership has now advised that they are willing to repair the doors by means of painting it.Yes renault is now offering to paint my brand nee vehicle as a result of negligence form the manufacturer.(even thought they admitted the paint colour is not available in the country as yet) i did contact renault south africa customer care to aid me.It has been two weeks, I requested for a senior manager to schedule a meeting with me and i have received no feedback to date.It is evident that renault south africa customer care and renault durban are colluding to save cost and not give me a solution that is suitable for me.
