Volkswagen Taigun GT Line And GT Plus Sport Launched At Rs 14.08 Lakh

Volkswagen has launched the GT Line and GT Plus Sport variants for the Taigun, with prices for the new variants starting from Rs 14.08 lakh (ex-showroom) . With the new variants, the Taigun is now split into 3 trims: Sport, Chrome and GT Edge.The new Sport trim gets black inserts on the exterior along with the red ‘GT’ badging. The stealth factor is extended to the interior as well which features an all-black cabin with red stitching for contrast. Deliveries for the new variants will start from this month itself.

Let’s take a look at how the new variants are priced:

Design 

The new Taigun GT Line and GT Plus Sport features blacked out elements to the grille, ‘TAIGUN’ badge, and roof rails. You get red ‘GT’ badging (GT Line badging for the 1-litre) on the grille, fender and tailgate along with red front brake callipers as well as a carbon steel grey coloured roof and dark chrome handles for further extending its sporty appeal. To complete the exterior look, both these variants also come with blacked out alloys and LED headlights as well. 

Step inside and you will get to see an all-black cabin along with red ambient lighting for contrast. Also, you’ll notice that the trim on the dashboard gets a new ‘Edgy Opulence’ insert for contrast. Looks cool! The GT Plus Sport gets red stitching across the cabin, while the same in the GT Line is finished in grey. 

Powertrain

Earlier, the GT variants were limited to the 1.5-litre engine, but with the launch of the Taigun GT Line variant, the 1-litre engine is also available as a GT variant. The smaller engine is the familiar 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine making 115 PS and 178  Nm, while the larger engine is the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol unit making 150 PS and 250 Nm. 

The Taigun GT Line can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter, while the GT Plus with the 1.5-litre engine gets the 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. 

Rivals

The Taigun rivals the likes of Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
