Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Wagon R Recalled, Over 16,000 Units Affected

The issue has affected cars manufactured between July 2019 and November 2019

  • Maruti Suzuki has recalled the Baleno and Wagon R to fix a part of the fuel pump motor.

  • 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the Wagon R have been affected.

  • Affected vehicles were manufactured between July 30, 2019 and November 1, 2019

  • Maruti has announced that the authorised dealership workshops will contact the affected car owners.

  • The part will be inspected and replaced at no extra cost. 

 

Maruti Suzuki India has recalled the Baleno and Wagon R, as the carmaker suspects a possible defect in the fuel pump motor, with 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the Wagon R affected by the issue. The units that have been recalled were manufactured between July 30, 2019 and November 1, 2019.

The possible issue in a part of the fuel pump motor, in a rare case, can lead to engine stalling or have difficulty starting. Maruti has stated that the affected car owners will be contacted by the authorised dealer workshops and the part will be replaced free of cost. Over the years, both the Baleno and Wagon R have emerged as successful nameplates for Maruti. The Baleno is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine, while the Wagon R gets both the 1-litre petrol and 1.2-litre petrol engine options. Both cars also get a factory-fitted CNG option, for lower running costs.
