CBR150R Key Highlights
Design: The 2021 CBR150R draws design inspiration from the larger twin-cylinder Honda CBR250RR. It gets the same funky split headlight setup but the fairing design is now sharper. The neat and slender tail section rises up to give the bike a sporty appearance while the golden fork adds to the drama of the design.
Features: The CBR150R comes with a full-digital LCD instrument panel that shows a fair amount of information including fuel consumption data and gear position, in addition to the usual speed, RPM, fuel level, and trip meters. The bike also features a slip-and-assist clutch, as well as a separate function big-piston front fork from Showa. ABS is offered on the higher variant of the two, and the CBR150R gets LED lighting all around.
Engine: The new CBR150R is powered by the same 149cc liquid-cooled 4-valve single-cylinder engine as before. Bore and stroke have also remained the same, at 57.3mm and 57.8mm respectively. Output figures stand at 17.1PS and 14.4Nm. The engine is fuel-injected and has an 11.3:1 compression ratio. It is now mated to the 6-speed gearbox via an assist-and-slipper clutch. Honda employs a diamond-type frame to hold the CBR150R together. It is suspended on a Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork and preload-adjustable monoshock mounted to the swingarm via Honda’s Pro-Link system. Stopping power comes from petal-type disc brakes at both ends with optional ABS. Up front, it comes with a 100/80-17 tyre while at the rear, you get a 130/70-17. With its 12-litre fuel tank topped up, the CBR150R tips the scales at 139kg for the ABS variant, while the non-ABS version stands at 137kg. Ground clearance is a reasonable 160mm and the 782mm seat height is very comfortable.
Rivals: The most direct competitor to the Honda CBR150R is the Yamaha R15 V3. To a certain extent, the CBR also goes up against the KTM RC 125.
Variants: Honda offers the CBR150R in two variants: ABS and non-ABS.
