The faired RS200 gets a minor price hike

  • The new Pulsar RS200 BS6 costs Rs 3,033 more than before.
  • There is no change in max power. Peak torque is 0.1Nm more.
  • Kerb weight has gone up by 2kg.
  • Bajaj continues its slew of BS6 price reveals on its website as the only full-faired Pulsar is now BS6-compliant. Yes, the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 BS6 is finally here with the motor pumping out the same power but marginally extra torque. Now priced at Rs 1,44,966 (ex-showroom Delhi), the RS200 BS6 bears a premium of just Rs 3,033 over its BS4 model.

The Pulsar RS200 looks exactly the same as it did in its BS4 guise, Bajaj continuing to stick with the oddball design. We expect the bike maker to reveal new graphics in the coming months to help the bike distinguish itself from its BS4 twin.

Powering the Pulsar RS200 BS6 is the same 199.5cc single-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled DTS-i (triple spark) motor as before. Max power is still rated at 24.5PS but the 18.7Nm peak torque rating is 0.1Nm more. While the microscopic increment in torque will not affect performance, what might deter it is the extra 2kg of weight that the bike has gained in the transition to BS6.

Aside from these small changes, Bajaj hasn’t tweaked the recipe of the RS200 at all, making sure it retains all its components from before. The telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock continue to suspend the perimeter frame. You get disc brakes at both ends. The RS200 is only available with a dual-channel ABS option. Earlier, a website error suggested that Bajaj had sought to offer the bike with single-channel ABS to save up on costs. However, that is not the case.

The price of the RS200 BS6 puts it right in the crosshairs of the smaller yet potent Yamaha R15 v3 BS6, the latter retailing at 1,45,300 (ex-showroom Delhi).
