If you are in the market for a new subcompact SUV, Kia will soon launch the 2024 Sonet facelift. But if you are seeking something with a Tata badge, you’ve the 2023 Nexon, which is one of the top players in its segment. Both cars were recently updated, and if you are considering either of them, here are three areas where the 2024 Sonet outshines the Tata Nexon.
Both, the 2024 Kia Sonet and the Tata Nexon, come with feature-loaded cabins, and there is barely anything lacking in their features lists. However, the Sonet does offer some modern features that make it better than the Nexon.
Powered driver’s seats: The Sonet gets a 4-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, which is manually adjustable in the Nexon.
Ambient Lightning: The Sonet also boasts ambient lighting that adjusts its colours and effects based on the music being played.
You also get one-touch up/down windows for all doors with the Sonet
Remote engine start: Though both SUVs come with connected car tech, Kia goes a step further with its smart key. You can remotely start the engine with it.
New to the 2024 Kia Sonet is the inclusion of ADAS, featuring forward-collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and high-beam assist. This is a miss in the Tata Nexon. Both share safety features like ABS with EBD, 6 airbags standard across all variants, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera. The Sonet also scores further on safety with all-wheel disc brakes.

While both the Sonet and Nexon offer various drive modes, the Sonet additionally offers traction modes – Snow, Mud and Sand – that adjusts the engine mapping to provide optimal grip levels in varied driving conditions. Do note that drive and traction modes with the Sonet is available in the automatic transmission variants only.
As for the pricing, you’ll have to wait until Kia officially announces them, which is expected in early 2024. It will likely have a higher starting price than the current Sonet, which starts from Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2023 Tata Nexon is priced between Rs 8.09 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from competing with each other, they rival the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
