Hyundai has refreshed its popular compact SUV, the 2024 Creta, with a more muscular design and revamped interior with new features. It is available with three engine options across seven broad trims. And if you are eyeing the mid-spec S(O) variant, which also serves as the entry point for configuring the Creta with an automatic transmission, we'll explain what it brings to the table in this report.
The S(O) variant features the revised parametric grille with dark chrome elements that gives it an upmarket feel. Right above the grille, you get connected LED DRLs, while the front bumper houses the new LED headlights. The front design is further enhanced by a contrasting silver-finished skid plate that adds to the macho look.
In the profile, you notice the roof rails running seamlessly along the sloping roofline of the SUV. Additionally, it features side sill garnish and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile closely resembles that of other variants, with the S(O) variant featuring LED connected taillights.

The cabin boasts a dual-tone dark and light grey theme, with fabric upholstery. Splashes of gloss black plastics increase the premium quotient inside the dashboard. And another point to note is that the climate control fascia now looks a lot cleaner as the infotainment controls flank the screen.
The S(O) variant comes equipped with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, six speaker sound system, dual zone automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, digitised driver’s display and type-C charging ports. It also comes with a panoramic sunroof, while the automatic transmission variants get electronic parking brake, drive modes and paddle shifters.
On the safety front, the S(O) variant is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, three-point seat belts for all passengers, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a rear parking camera with parking sensors.
You can have the S(O) variant with either the 115 PS 1.5-litre petrol or the 116 PS 1.5-litre diesel engine. It can further be configured with the CVT for the petrol engine or the 6-speed AT for the diesel engine as automatic transmission options, alongside the standard 6-speed manual transmission. Prices for the Creta S(O) variant starts from Rs 14.32 lakh and go up to Rs 17.32 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the engine choice you pick. It rivals SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor.
