Citroen Basalt Vision Teaser

  • Citroen’s upcoming SUV coupe for India will be showcased as a pre-production concept called Basalt Vision.
  • Teaser shows off its sloping roofline and square LED tail lamps.
  • Earlier spy shots showcase a similar dashboard as the C3 and C3 Aircross.
  • Likely to get more premium features such as auto AC, six airbags and push button start.
  • Expected to be powered by 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, with either 6-speed manual or automatic.
  • Launch is expected in the summer of 2024.

Citroen India has teased its next offering for the Indian market, an SUV coupe, ahead of its global debut tomorrow. The French brand has also revealed that it will be calling this pre-production showcase model the ‘Basalt Vision.’ One can expect it to launch down the road in a couple of months.

The latest teaser of the Basalt Vision gives us a look of its sloping roofline and the square-shaped LED tail lamps with a cool light signature. Earlier spy shots have revealed that the model will have a similar looking fascia as the Citroen C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross compact SUV. You can take a closer look at the Citroen Basalt Vision in spy shots here.

Citroen C3 Aircross Interior

Inside, the test mule sightings of the Basalt Vision, featured a dashboard design that’s similar to the current C3 and C3 Aircross. That said, expect the final car will boast a different colour scheme to stand out from the existing models. Also, we hope Citroen packs it with additional niceties such as automatic climate control, push button start and six airbags to make it an even more rounded offering.

Bits such as a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital driver’s display, steering mounted audio controls and keyless entry will be on offer as well.

As for powertrain options, the Basalt Vision could get the existing 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. We also wouldn’t discount the possibility of the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the lower variants.

One can expect the upcoming Citroen Basalt Vision to be priced from around the Rs 8 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will rival the Tata Curvv, while also being an alternative to other models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Verna, VW Virtus, and Skoda Slavia.
