Rugged Charm Meets Modern Needs

The Mahindra Scorpio has been with me for a year now and it has been an adventure from the get go. It has the rugged looks and commanding road presence that won me over initially. Powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine that churns out 140 horsepower, it got enough power for both city driving and off road escapades. The ride can get bouncy, especially on poor roads and handling is not its strongest suit reflecting its age old design philosophy. Mahindra has made efforts to modernize the Scorpio with a touchscreen infotainment system and reverse parking camera.

Mahindra Scorpio Pros and Cons

Scorpio Positives Points: Classic traditional boxy SUV looks are still appealing, new chassis and suspension tweaks as well as the mHawk engine make a big difference to the drive experience.

Scorpio Negatives Points: Lacking in interior quality and features, touch screen is especially laggy, no automatic or 4x4 option anymore.

Zigwheels Expert's Conclusion : Will still appeal to people being a rugged, dependable and imposing SUV on the road. But most will find the interior experience wanting and the lack of an automatic or 4x4 option as restrictive.
