British sports car manufacturer, Lotus, has reigned over Formula 1 in the 1960s and 1970s. The carmaker has recently revealed its high-performance 2014 Lotus Exige LF1 edition, and only 81 units of this car will be produced to commemorate the British marque's 81 Grand Prix victories. In fact, each car will celebrate one specific win, from its first at Monaco in 1960 to its latest in Australia in 2013.
The limited edition model gets a Lotus F1 Team inspired livery featuring a black and gold paint scheme with red accents and gold 17-inch front and 18-inch rear cast alloy wheels. Exterior features also include badges incorporating LF1 logo and exclusive black and gold Lotus nose badge and wheel centres.
Inside, the 2014 Lotus Exige LF1 sports leather upholstery with gold piping and stitching while LF1 logos have been embroidered into the headrests and floor mats. A special carbon fibre plate with the car’s specific build number is also housed in the cabin.
The Lotus Exige LF1 will also feature extras such as the Exige Race Pack with Dynamic Performance Management system, two-piece high performance brake discs and high-performance Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres. For those wanting to optimise their Exige LF1 optional Convenience Pack, heated seats and rear parking sensors are available.
The new car is equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 engine which delivers 345PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The car sprints from 0-100kmph in a mere 3.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 273kmph. As with all cars from Lotus, the Exige LF1 is lightweight with it tipping the scales at just 1,176 kg.
The new car will be priced approximately at Rs 63.42 lakh (exclusive of taxes and duties), and Lotus has also confirmed the new limited-edition is available across all markets except US.
