As the name suggests, the scooter features unique race livery from the 60s

  • The Vespa Racing Sixties is based on the SXL 160.
  • The changes are purely cosmetic, mechanically the scooter remains unchanged.
  • According to the brand, the scooter will be available in the second quarter of 2020.
  • Love retro? Well, you’re going to love this! Vespa has come out with the new Racing Sixties 150cc scooter at Auto Expo 2020. While changes are purely cosmetic, the unique paint scheme, which is inspired by 1960’s race livery, brings about some freshness to the genre. And though the scooter isn’t on sale just yet, Vespa says it will be available by the second quarter of 2020.

The crux of the matter lies in the way the scooter looks. Based on the Vespa SXL 150, the Racing Sixties gets a whitewash base paint paired with racing stripes running from the front till the end. The side panels feature race strips too but look minimal and play well with the overall theme. Then there’s the contrast of gold-painted wheels, which adds a touch of sportiness, and the single-piece seat with white piping. The mirror, the rubber on the floorboard, and the accents surrounding its LED headlight are finished in black. The rest of the scooter remains mechanically unchanged.

As for the hardware, it comes equipped with a trailing link suspension up front and a monoshock at the rear. The scooter is anchored by disc brakes on both ends paired with single-channel ABS.

Right, how much would the scooter cost? Vespa hasn’t revealed the Racing Sixties’ price, however, we expect the scooter to garner a premium of around Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 over the Vespa SXL 150 ABS, which retails at Rs 1,25,107 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
