Mahindra has always been making headlines for its high waiting periods, with customers waiting more than a year for their delivery in some cases. To tackle that issue, Mahindra promised to ramp up production and they did. But the outcome hasn’t been exactly what they wished for. How? Read on to find out:

As you can see by the numbers, Mahindra has clearly boosted its production capacity. The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic have seen the highest increase in production, while the XUV700 has also received a significant increase in production. Yet, the waiting periods of these SUVs are still alarming for potential and even existing customers. Let’s check out the waiting times for these Mahindra vehicles in major cities:

The Scorpio N has a waiting period of up to 6 months, while the Classic’s waiting time goes up to 4 months
The XUV700 still goes high with its waiting times, with multiple cities having an 8-month waiting period

As you can see by the table above, the waiting periods for these Mahindra cars are still high, especially for the Scorpio N and XUV700. That is despite the fact that Mahindra has ramped up production for these models.
The culprit is none other than the high demand that these cars have witnessed in January 2024, which has caused the waiting periods to stay stagnant and not improve. Here’s a look at their sales figures for January 2024:

XUV700 had sales of 7206 units in January 2024, an increase of 1419 units compared to 2023.
The Thar also witnessed an increase in sales, with 1649 more units sold in January 2024.
The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic had the highest increase in sales with 5578 more units sold in January 2024.

The sales numbers explain it all. But if you notice, the ramp up in production for the XUV700, Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic is more than the increase in their respective sales numbers.
