Boutique Italian firm Moto Guzzi has updated its V9 and V85 TT series. The additions comprise the mandatory emission updates and a few tweaks to the ergonomics and electronics to make them more user-friendly.
The V9 will continue to arrive in its Bobber and Roamer avatars. While the V85 TT adventure bike was launched at Auto Expo 2020, it was available only for a limited period. We expect it, as well as the V9s, to arrive at our shores by the end of 2021.
The central talking point is that both the V9 and the V85 will use the same 853cc 90-degree transversely mounted V-twin. There’s no loss in output, even though the EU5 emission norms have been met. The motor still churns out a measly 65PS and 73Nm.
The V9 doesn’t get any riding mode, but only ABS and switchable traction control. The V85 TT has five riding modes: Strada, Pioggia, Sport, Off-road, and Custom. Plus, it gets cruise control too.
Moto Guzzi claims the headstock section of the V9’s frame has been fortified, but the rest of the mechanical elements remain the same as the bike we rode in 2016. Another small change on the V9 is the inclusion of rubber pads on the rider footpegs, which should dampen vibrations further.
The V85 TT now has spoke rims suitable for tubeless tyres. The new rims are 1.5kg lighter, which should aid driving dynamics, especially when you take the bike off-road.
When it did go on sale for a brief period in 2020, the V85 retailed for Rs 12.64 lakh. Expect it now to be priced around the Rs 13 lakh mark. The V9 Bobber and Roamer will receive a price revision as well. We reckon their new prices to start at almost Rs 14 lakh, making them a rather expensive purchase.
