Prema Racing’s Jehan Daruvala finished off the second round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 World Championship on quite a positive note, finishing on the podium in third place at the feature race in Jeddah. His teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver, Dennis Hauger managed to finish sixth.
Starting 14th on the grid, Daruvala was immediately on the attack, climbing up to 12th position on the opening lap, and then pulling off a great triple overtake around the outside to move up to 9th position.
Crucially, the Indian driver was one of the first few drivers to make their one and only mandatory pitstop, and came alive in the second stint. Not only did he undercut a lot of drivers up front, but was quick enough to make his way up to third position once everyone made their pitstops. From there, the Indian driver never looked back, and secured a well earned spot on the podium in third place.
Overall, it was a fantastic recovery drive from Jehan Daruvala with his recent points haul elevating him to sixth overall in the drivers standings.
After the first couple of rounds, it’ll be a longer wait before Formula 2 returns to racing action. The third round of the season will take place in Imola, and is scheduled to run from April 22-24.
