Honda has applied for the trademark of the name “X-ADV” in India, and it has been ‘accepted and advertised’, meaning it has been registered in the trademark journal without requiring to make any changes. But does this imply Honda will launch the X-ADV in India?
Well, it’s not as straightforward as Honda is likely to have trademarked it here for legal reasons. This isn’t the first time the bikemaker is registering an international product in India; the Honda NT1100, ADV 150, SH-350i, and the CBR250RR have been patented already.
That said, we’d love to see the Honda X-ADV here, considering it’s the only large-capacity scooter capable of proper terrain-taming. However, a radical scooter as this comes with a hefty price tag. In the UK, it costs GBP 10,949 (around Rs 11.11 lakh).
The Honda X-ADV is powered by a 745cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor churning out 58.5PS and 69Nm, working in conjunction with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The adventure scooter is equipped with off-road-friendly underpinnings, including a 41mm inverted front fork (153.5mm travel), a linked rear monoshock (150mm travel), 17-inch front and 15-inch rear spoke wheels with block pattern tubeless radial tyres, and decent 165mm ground clearance.
The scooter also features a proper TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, voice control and navigation, all-LED Lighting, USB Type-C port, a generous 21-litre underseat storage, and five riding modes with traction control and ABS.
While Honda is unlikely to bring this scooter here anytime soon, it will be launching a range of two-wheelers in 2022.
