About BMW
History
German automaker BMW has a legacy of building driver-centric luxury cars with cutting-edge technology. It began operations over a century ago as an aircraft engine manufacturer, and has been producing cars since the 1930s.
As a carmaker, BMW landed in India in 2006, and had a new plant in Chennai by 2007. The 5 Series and 3 Series luxury sedans were its first cars, and later in 2012, it introduced the Mini brand in the country. It has been able to keep car prices in check with local assembly, but new fully imported electric vehicles attract a premium.
Product portfolio
Luxury Sedans: BMW offers the 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series sedans, and the 2 Series, 6 Series and 8 Series Gran Coupes in India. The 3 Series is also available as a long-wheelbase Gran Limousine and a sportier M340i sedan. In addition, BMW offers the Z4 and Z4 M40i two-door roadster, and the M2 Competition, M5 Competition, M760Li, and M8 performance sedans.
Luxury SUVs: The carmaker’s SUV range starts with the BMW X1 compact luxury SUV, and comprises the X3, X5, and X7 luxury SUVs. The X5 is available in a sporty X5 M Competition variant, while the X7 is BMW’s flagship SUV in India.
Coupe SUVs: Two coupe SUVs are part of the carmaker’s lineup in India – the BMW X4 and X6.
Electric vehicles: BMW’s EV lineup consists of the iX electric SUV.
Greatest hits
E90 BMW 3 Series: The carmaker’s debut model for India
E89 BMW Z4: Iconic two-seater convertible sports car
BMW i8: First electrified BMW model
E90 BMW M3: This rear-drive performance sedan was BMW’s first M car in India
F90 BMW M5: Quickest-ever BMW
Future plans
BMW intends to become a major player in the global EV market. It has launched its first electric car in India, and it has the Mini Cooper electric and i4 electric sedan in the pipeline. High customs duties and taxes on imported cars (both ICE and electric) currently make BMW’s EVs exorbitantly expensive in the country. In the future, policy changes or local assembly, paired with a growing nationwide electric car charging network, could help the European carmaker expand to electric cars in India.

X74.777 reviewsBMW X7: Sheer Luxurious Presence
Driving the BMW X7 feels like commanding a luxurious ship on the road. Its mammoth presence is powered by a robust 3.0 litre diesel engine ensuring that despite its size the X7 moves effortlessly with 265 bhp at my disposal. Not to mention, the air suspension system provides an almost celestial level of comfort even on roughest of road conditions. The X7's interior is a haven of luxury with third row seating that's genuinely usable even for adults, a rarity in luxury SUVs.Yet for its price point the fuel efficiency is on the lower side in day to day city driving conditions.

X14.784 reviewsBMW X1: A Compact Luxurious Ride
After a year of driving the BMW X1, I am thrilled to share my experiences. This compact SUV truly stands out with its powerful 2.0 litre diesel engine, delivering a smooth 190 bhp. It is a pleasure on highways yet perfectly smooth for city rides, thanks to its 8 speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency stunned me it is pretty good for a luxury vehicle. It has a spacious cabin, high quality materials and a user friendly infotainment system that kept me connected on the go.

X5570 reviewsA Balanced Blend of Luxury and Performance
Owning a BMW X5 has been an exhilarating journey. It strikes a perfect balance between performance and luxury. The variant I own comes with a robust 3.0 litre diesel engine that churns out a hearty 265 bhp makes it a powerhouse on highways, yet surprisingly efficient for daily commutes. The X5 shines with its sophisticated interior equipped with top notch materials and a state of the art infotainment system. The adaptive suspension system deserves a special mention adapting flawlessly to rough terrains, providing a ride quality that's hard to match.

Z44.872 reviewsBMW Z4: The Open-Air Thrill
The BMW Z4 has been a dream for an enthusiast like me.The model I own is equipped with a spirited 2.0 litre turbocharged engine providing 197 bhp which is perfect for quick accelerations and an enthralling driving experience. Its design is a head turner, complemented by a luxurious cabin that is comfortable and sporty with all the tech features you would need. However the Z4 is not the most practical choice for the typical Indian family. The boot space is limited especially with the top down, making it a challenge to plan for longer trips.

i7565 reviewsElectrifying Luxury: My Experience with the BMW i7
The BMW i7 has redefined my expectations of luxury electric vehicles. Its futuristic design turns heads and the performance is silently powerful, offering an exhilarating driving experience without a single drop of petrol. The interior is a tech lover's paradise, combining luxury with innovation seamlessly. The range is impressive too, capable of traveling up to 480 km on a single charge more than sufficient for city commutes and occasional long drives. However, the scarcity of fast charging stations in some parts of India can be a bother, planning long trips requires some plans.
