Commenting on the increase in prices on the Polo and the Vento, Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “Our aim has always been to give our customers a good value proposition and once again we are glad to be able to offer a good reason for them to buy these carlines.”

The Polo and the Vento have been strong pillars of growth for the brand with 62,507 units sold in 2012. Among Volkswagen’s plans for India in 2013 is an automatic variant of the 1.6-litre petrol Polo that may launch around March. The German car maker is also reportedly working on a sub-four-metre sedan based on the Polo. This car will slot in between the larger Vento and the Polo hatch and as expected, it will have a rather competitive price tag. Read More: Compact Sedan Segment in India set to rise
