Addressing the cries after the booking period for the Vitara Brezza escalated to six months, Maruti Suzuki has reportedly ramped up production for its new compact SUV.

After a record-breaking number of bookings within the first 24 hours of its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza attracted no lesser than 40,000 bookings by a fortnight. In order to meet this rising demand for the car, the Indian carmaker is said to have stepped up its monthly production from 80,000 units to 1 lakh units.

Maruti Suzuki has already dispatched over 6,000 units of the Vitara Brezza since its launch and is working towards reducing the waiting period. The company faced a similar situation with the Baleno and has thus made arrangements to solve it at the earliest.

Maruti Suzuki has reasserted it position as the top car manufacturer of the country ever since the Baleno broke cover. Launched on March 8, the Vitara Brezza has only added to these celebrations.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was rolled out at a starting price of Rs 6.99lakh (ex-Delhi). The car however is available in only a diesel avatar currently. The 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, DDIS diesel engine, producing maximum power output of 92PS and peak torque of 200Nm, comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

In the Indian markets, the car will be up against the likes of the Ford Ecosport and the newly launched Mahindra Nuvosport.
