Mahindra has launched the updated 125cc Rodeo, the Rodeo RZ, across South India. The ex-showroom prices announced are Rs. 49,575 (Andhra Pradesh), Rs. 49,410 (Kerala), Rs. 50,710 (Tamil Nadu) and Rs 48,930 (Karnataka), respectively.

Mahindra reportedly seeks to sell 5,000 units of the Rodeo RZ (Read : Mahindra Rodeo RZ First Ride), which it says is aimed at young, urban couples. Speaking on the launch, Viren Popli, Senior Vice President - Strategy and Market Development, Mahindra Two Wheelers, said, “The Mahindra Rodeo RZ is a zippy, trendy, youthful scooter with a host of unique modern features, which lets both him and her do more, much more.”

The RZ retains the 125cc Z-Series engine but now features Mahindra’s Dual Curve Digital Ignition system that helps the scooter put out a little more than 8PS and 9Nm while still returning a claimed fuel efficiency of 59.38kmpl.

The new Rodeo comes with a host of new graphics, a 125cc badge upfront and seven trendy colours including Mystique Violet, Electric Green and Flame Orange aside from the regular white and black options. Mahindra has fixed the low ground clearance issue on the earlier model, with the scooter now getting 24mm additional space underneath. Storage space too has been increased to 22 litres.

These aside, the Rodeo RZ carries over all of the previous model’s enticing features including a digital instrument cluster with tachometer, tripmeter, acceleration timer, odometer, speedometer, speeding alarm, fuel gauge, clock and a side stand buzzer. Other noteworthy features include a front fuel filler cap, a 4-in-1 anti-theft key and a mobile phone/MP3 charger to keep riders connected and entertained on the move. The Mahindra Rodeo RZ is priced higher than the Duro DZ (around Rs 3,600 more in Andhra Pradhesh) but that doesn’t come as a surprise considering the exhaustive feature list.
