KTM has silently recalled its flagship offering in our country, the 390 Duke. The reason for this recall is a defective front sprocket locking plate. It is learned that if the faulty part isn’t replaced there is a possibility of the front sprocket getting misaligned over a period of time and this could eventually lead to the chain slipping off the teeth. To avoid it KTM has redesigned the front sprocket to ensure that such a scenario doesn’t arise.
Owing to this KTM has asked 390 Duke owners to visit authorised service stations so that the bikes can be diagnosed and the faulty part be replaced. This recall is only for KTM 390 Dukes that have been manufactured prior to March 2014 as according to company officials bikes manufactured from March 2014 come fitted with the redesigned component. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost and replacement will be done within 45 minutes. No incident of a faulty front sprocket has been reported yet but it seems that KTM is taking this step as a precautionary measure.
