The India Bike Week 2015 was a lot grander and exciting than its previous editions with many major two-wheeler manufacturers participating in the event and showcasing their products prior to their official launch

India Bike Week 2015

Hundreds of motorcycling enthusiasts and infinite horsepower, an ideal setup for a gathering of biking enthusiasts. The India Bike Week is an annual meet where like-minded petrol heads assemble to show their love for two wheels. And this year, from custom made motorcycles, superbikes to interesting stories of motorcycle adventures, there was a lot on offer.

The two day event kicked off with a short walk around of the entire venue, soon after which there was the knockout round of the stunt riding championship. Various groups from across the country showed off their skills on two wheels or one. Each of the groups was given 10 minutes to flaunt their talent and get the crowd all geared up for the next big event.

Next up, Triumph took the wraps off two new Tigers – the XCx and e XRx, soon to be launched in India. As a crowd of eager piston-heads waiting in anticipation, DSK-Motorwheels Benelli too revealed to three new motorcycles. The Keeway Blackster, the TreK 1130 Amazonas and the TNT 250 will be launched in March along with the others that the Italian bike maker has already showcased.

Alongside the Triumph and the Benelli stall at the India Bike Week 2015, was the Ace Café - a place every fan of motorcycles aspires to visit once in his lifetime not just for the fact that it has been an iconic biker hangout since 1938 but also because it is the spiritual home for Café Racers. Fans also got a chance to meet and interact with Mark Wilsmore, who resurrected the iconic café in 2001. The day was wrapped up with the launch of the Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus technology which has been developed using natural gas and followed by some lively music by Nucleya.

The custom bike build-off started the proceedings on Day 2 with garages across the country showcasing their best at the India Bike Week 2015. Meanwhile, some fantastic motorcycles were fighting it out hard at the Dyno Wars.

This year’s India Bike Week also marked the fifth anniversary for Harley Davidson in India and it was celebrated with the customary HOG Rally in Goa. Nearly 2,000 riders made it for the HOG Rally this year.  Along with the HOG Rally, there was also the Classic Parade and the Mod parade for those who love vintage and custom motorcycles. Day 2 also saw the finals of the Stunt Riding Championship. The day ended with everyone rocking to the tunes of Baby Head.

The India Bike Week 2015 was surely bigger than what we have seen in its first two editions, especially with more manufacturers participating. With something to offer for every kind of biker, it is indeed just the kind of gathering one would hope for, and then of course a place like Goa worked wonders in setting up the scene.
