0 to 97 kmph in 0.7 milleseconds and 0-402 kmph in under seven seconds. These figures seem more apt for an F22 Raptor fighter jet, but they actually come from the fastest motorcycle on the planet. The GULF GP Originals Top Fuel Drag (Road) Racing Bike gave us a taste of what a top fuel drag bike feels like. Powered by 1500 cc 4-cylinder Puma engine, this monster puts down an unbelievable 1500 hp at the rear wheels. Gulf Oil brought the bike down to India to prove their commitment to promote and support motorsport in India. Gulf plans to catapult the motorsport revolution in India even as Indians are still dazed by the sounds and speeds of Formula One cars at the BIC circuit.
Coming to the run, the bike simply looks enormous in the flesh. With that fat rear tyre and a long wheelie-bar the bike definitely means business. there are all of 1500 supercharged horses ready to run amok at the slightest twist of the throttle and it is extremely difficult to keep the bike to even track straight. But Ian King has been taming this monstrous beast for quite some time now and it was a sight to see when he got astride the bike and fired it up. A massive burnout to get some heat into the tyres and King was ready for his demo run. As he unleashed those horses, the bike shot forward like its just been fired off a catapult leaving a distant trail of rubber as it struggled to put all that power on the road. While it was a mesmerizing sight for motor heads, the run was over before one knew it. A short but an unforgetful one neverthless.
The World Champion who rides this Gulf King Racing Top Fuel Drag Racing Bike is a Five-time European Drag Bike Racing Champion, and is currently ranked, at No. 3 in the world. Chawla adds, “Ian King is the Valentino Rossi of Drag Bike Racing, he is a legend being the most successful drag racer in the world. We are confident that he will inspire the Indian motorsport enthusiasts as he has inspired racing enthusiasts across the world.” We hope Ian's run gets the drag scene going in India and more teams and manufacturers follow suite. Until then his top fuel dragster has just left us wanting for more.
