Exotic Italian bike maker keen on making a splash with its recently launched, world-class motorcycles

The Brutale 800 will lead the pack for MV Agusta in India

Given the number of launches happening even before the Auto Expo, 2016 is already looking like a very promising and very exciting year ahead if you an automobile fanatic.

The Expo itself is set to witness a record number of new launches and unveils, apart from a few international manufacturers set to take the opportunity to announce their foray into the burgeoning Indian automobile market. Of these, Italian manufacturer MV Agusta, who is known for its exotic motorcycles deserves a special mention. The Italian marque softly launched its lustworthy motorcycles in India last year, but is looking to grab eyeballs at the 2016 Auto Expo.

MV Agusta has tied up with the Kinetic group in India and functions of the latter’s office in Pune for its India operations and is currently in the process of aligning its dealer network in the country. If reports are to be believed, the brand is planning to have an elaborate spread of motorcycles at its pavilion the Expo, showcasing the cream of its offerings globally. It isn’t surprising that MV is keen on making a huge splash at the Expo, considering the fact that the premium motorcycle market in the country has grown exponentially over the past few years. Almost all global motorcycle brands have set shop in the country and are operating in the country today.

That said, the legendary Italian brand wanting a share of this lucrative pie was just a given. It might be late to the party, but the charm of the MV Agusta brand ensures it can still attract plenty of suitors looking for premium, high performance motorcycles. The brand boasts a rich heritage in motorcycling like few others do, having dominated the world of racing till mid ‘70s before losing its guiding force and going down a spiral.

MV Agusta to make debut with various models

MV Agusta has already launched five motorcycles in India, including the brawny Brutale 800 naked, the F3800 sportsbike, Brutale 1090 and two versions of its top of the line F4 superbike which will all be showcased at the Expo. The Brutale 800 is powered by an 800cc inline three cylinder engine and is known for its manic power delivery and gorgeous design. Though expensive at around Rs 13 lakh ex-showroom, the Brutale 800 is a motorcycle that can set your pulse racing with just its sexy design, not to mention its three cylinder engine produces 127PS of power.

The F3 800 is powered by the same engine as the Brutale 800 albeit in a more powerful avatar to suit its character as a track scorching, fully-faired sportsbike. With a power output of 150PS and its svelte looks, the F3 800 can have what it takes to make enthusiasts go weak in their knees and is priced at Rs 16.2 lakh. The Brutale 800’s elder sibling, the Brutale 1090 houses the 1078cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 146PS of maximum power and 112Nm of peak torque. It will be valued at around Rs 18-19 lakh.

The brand had recently announced prices of as many as five of its models

The MV Agusta F4 superbike will have a 998cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine delivering 197.7PS of maximum power and 111Nm of peak torque. The more menacing F4 RR, which delivers 203.8PS and 111Nm using the same engine, will be priced at Rs 34 lakh.

Two other models/variants – the F4 RC and Dragster – will be made available only on order. Priced way above their Japanese counterparts, the MV Agusta pack will directly lock horns with the likes of another Italian bike maker Ducati, and the soon to be launched officially in India, BMW Motorrad. Despite the delayed arrival, MV Agusta is a brand that enjoys immense brand recall and a huge following for the premium feel and gorgeous design of its motorcycles. We’re certain the brand will create quite a ripple with its offerings at the Auto Expo next month.
