The Tuono 457 will give some tough competition to the Yamaha MT-03

Aprilia Tuono 457, the streetfighter sibling of the recently launched Aprilia RS 457 has been spotted testing in Europe and judging by the images, here’s what we have been able to make out about this upcoming bike from the Italian manufacturer.

The first thing that stands out about the test bike is that it looks quite crude and far from finished, but we expect the bike to come with a similar design language as that of the Aprilia Tuono 660 and Tuono V4 1100. In its current form, the test mule sports a round halogen headlamp, LED tail light and indicators.

The halogen headlight is likely a temporary measure to ensure that the test bike is road legal. In its finished form, we believe the Tuono 457 will come with tank extensions that join with the headlight.

Next, coming to the seat and ergonomics. The bike features a single piece seat along with a flatter, single-piece handlebar and rearset footpegs that gives the rider an upright riding posture but a slight forward lean.

The bike will be powered by the same 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine from the Aprilia RS 457 which produces 46.7PS at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6700rpm.

In terms of underpinnings, the bike features a steel tubular frame, with a different swingarm from the one used in the Aprilia RS 457. The bike is suspended on an inverted front fork and a off-set monoshock at the rear with preload adjustability. The blue cylinder-like objects visible on the suspension seem to be put there to measure suspension travel in this phase of testing.

Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at the front and rear with a rotor design that looks similar to that used on the RS 457. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloys like its supersport sibling and even comes with the same design.

Aprilia is expected to unveil the Tuono 457 at EICMA 2024 with the launch likely to take place in early 2025. The price is expected to be under 4 lakh ex-showroom as the bike will be manufactured at Aprilia’s Baramati plant. Once launched, the Tuono 457 will compete with the KTM Duke 390, QJ Motor SRK 400 and the recently launched streetfighter from Yamaha, the MT-03.
