If it comes to India, Ford Endeavour might not get the V6-powered variant options that the Australian model gets

The India launch (comeback, rather) of the new Ford Endeavour (called Everest abroad) is as uncertain as the outcome of a coin toss. There is no confirmation yet, but there are specific ways that the full-size Fortuner rival could find a way to India. Until it does, we take a look at its four variants available in the Australian market and check out what they have to offer in this story:

Base-spec Ambiente

Powertrain: 210 PS/500 Nm 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine with 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive as standard, 4WD offered as an option

The base-spec Ambiente variant of the Endeavour looks slightly plain jane compared to the higher variants. It gets body coloured ORVMs and bumpers, and sits on 17-inch alloy wheels.  But despite being the entry-level model, it gets LED head- and tailights, LED fog lamps, and LED DRLs as well.

In contrast to the exterior, the cabin doesn’t feel like that of an entry-level model with features like a 10.1-inch infotainment, 8-inch digital driver’s display, dual zone climate control, 8 speakers, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It gets 9 airbags as standard along with a host of ADAS features.

While there’s no holding back on the features front, it does however get a rather basic cloth material for the seats and only gets floor mats for the driver.

Powertrain: 210 PS/500 Nm 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine with 10-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive only.

There aren’t many visual changes over the base variant here. But the highlight has to be the 18-inch alloy wheels and the black stand off roof rails, the former which adds to a better stance. It gets the similar body-coloured elements and the chrome bar that connects the headlights.

But the premium quotient is upped on the inside with the use of leather seats and floor mats for both the driver and passenger. It even gets more features like a bigger 12-inch touchscreen system, powered tailgate, and 8-way powered driver’s seat.

The Sport trim is where the Endy starts to look a bit more stylish. In come black roof rails, mirrors, handles and bumper along with big 20-inch alloy wheels. Even the bar connecting the headlights has been blacked out here, making it look meaner.

The cabin gets leather seats for all three rows with the front ones offering the option of heat and ventilation. Additional new features include a 10-speaker sound system, 10-way powered driver seat with memory function, and an 8-way powered passenger seat.

The top-spec Endy builds on the style factor with Matrix LED headlights, inserts for the grille, massive 21-inch alloy wheels, side steps with steel inserts and chrome roof rails.

The cabin, too, is luxurious, with quilted leather material for all seats and an extensive list of features which includes a panoramic sunroof, a 12.4-inch digital driver’s display, park assist, and a Bang and Olufsen 12-speaker sound system.

We are yet to see which variant Ford brings to India, if and when the Endeavour is launched here. We reckon it’ll only be offered with the 2-litre diesel engine and not the more powerful V6. But you can expect both rear- and four-wheel drivetrains to be offered. For more details on the Ford Endeavour, click on this link.

If launched, it could be priced at around Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, and will lock horns with premium SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
