Nissan Evalia all set for launch end of September

This boxy bodied difficult to exactly decipher MPV with its typical Japanese styling but not so typical family van characteristics will be available to customers for booking and purchase after its official launch on the 25th of September

Nissan Evalia

Having received an overwhelming response to its the boxy body styled people carrier rotating on a shiny showfloor for the very first time in India at the Auto Expo in January 2012 gave further impetus to Nissan’s hopes of introducing its NV200 on Indian shores, but as what we now know will be the  Evalia. Add to that some pleasant reviews about the vehicle’s outstanding storage space, its clean and clever Japanese styling and what you have is basically an out of the box (and I mean literally) idea that seems to have covered all of its bases for yet another warm welcome, this time around the world’s third largest automotive market.

A premium product with features that will set it apart from the competition on many accounts, the Nissan Evalia (Read : Nissan Evalia First Drive) is set for its India launch on the 26th of September this year in Mumbai, and it is only after you have spent some quality time reading about its hidden feats of engineering and clever interior packaging that you will truly begin to understand where this vehicle is headed. Take for example the fact that with its third row folded the Evalia will free up a massive 2,100 litres of space and that further goes up to 2,900 litres with the middle row bent over as well! Family van or crafty looking caravan I wonder.

All of that cavernous space needs to be backed up by a good powertrain and the Evalia employs the tried and trusted 1.5-litre dCi oil burner that continues to serve well on the Nissan Sunny and the more recent Renault Duster.

Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission the Evalia’s 85PS tune seems adequate for the kind of use it will be put in. Nissan claims it can hit 60km/h in 12.7 seconds and that has everything to do with the way the Evalia is made.

Weighing only 1,426kg the Evalia is almost 250kg lighter than the Toyota Innova and looks well on its way to becoming the most preferred fleet vehicle in a commercially diverse nation like India. While Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor’s presence has made Nissan a more likeable car brand amongst youngsters, only time, trials and the eventual pricing will determine how effective and impactful Nissan’s world renowned urban city van can prove to be in the Indian automotive landscape. Watch this space for our complete post launch report with variantwise pricing details at noon tomorrow.

Yes i agree. Why shud one buy this ugly looking Evalia when there is a Innova which has proved itself on indian roads and has better technology.

in other countries for the price they will quote for us in India Nissan provide engines not less than 2400 Petrol and 3000cc diesel engines...for example in the gulf countries like U. A. E. and besides for us in India there will be detuned engines and some features missing....will it be worth?
