New Range Rover Sport to be launched in October

The all-new Range Rover Sport has been widely acclaimed as a truly sporty avatar of the latest flagship SUV from Land Rover. The company is now all set to launch the 2014 Range Rover Sport in India by the end of October 2013.

Like in markets abroad the 2014 Range Rover Sport in India will be on offer with a choice of two engine options, a 3.6 litre V6 turbocharged diesel and a 5.0 litre supercharged petrol. The diesel heart in the Range Rover Sport develops 296PS of power and 600Nm of power while the petrol powered Range Rover Sport develops 517PS of power and 625Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Unlike the previous Range Rover Sport that was underpinned with the chassis of the Land Rover Discovery the 2014 model has an all aluminium monocoque chassis like the new Range Rover with which it also shares various other components.

That being said, the new Range Rover Sport is 149mm shorter than the Range Rover. The wheelbase of the 2014 Range Rover Sport has been stretched to reduce overhang and better handling while third row seats have been accommodated in the boot.
