2015 Hyundai Verna facelift launched at Rs 7.74 lakh

Hyundai has launched the 2015 Verna at a starting price of Rs 7.74 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This is the Verna’s final facelift for this generation. The next-gen Verna will be launched in 2016. The Verna was the king of its segment for a good two years before the launch of the Honda City in the beginning of 2014. Since then the City has ruled the roost with the Maruti Ciaz joining in to spoil the Verna party. With this update, Hyundai hopes to claw back lost ground.

There are no mechanical changes in the Verna besides a stiffer rear suspension. The Verna gets bump stops in the suspension setup which improving the way the Verna reacts to large undulations and potholes. This makes the Verna a lot more stable on the highway. Hyundai also claims that the efficiency of the diesel Verna has improved. Official ARAI figures are up to 24.8kmpl for the 1.4-litre diesel Verna and the 1.6-litre diesel returns 23.9kmpl.

On the design front, the 2015 Verna gets a new front end. A redesigned bumper with fog lamps, front grille and headlights make their way to the new Verna. Towards the rear, a new tail lamp cluster and rear bumper freshens up the sedan. On the inside, the major change is in the seat cushioning which is softer than before. The rear seats offer better under thigh support and there is also an ergo lever, much like the one to get in the Vento to slide the front passenger seat forward when seated in the back seat.

The centre console display lights are more legible and you also get 1GB of storage now. Hyundai is offering ABS as standard on all variants with the update and the top trim petrol and diesel variants get six airbags. To read our detailed review, click: here
