Tata Sumo Gold bags gold at Desert Storm 2012

Team Full Throttle, the Motor Sports division of Tata Motors, has emerged winners of the Xplore Category in the Maruti Suzuki Dessert Storm Rally 2012. Team Full Throttle was setup by Tata Motors to give the company a platform to approach motor sports by organising and synergising all efforts related to development and testing  of vehicles for its motor sport activities. 

The winning car, a Tata Sumo Gold was driven by Team Full Throttle member Ganesh Moorthy along with co-driver T Nagrajan. Third position in the Xplore Category was bagged by another Tata Sumo Gold driven by two other Team Full Throttle members, Sanjay Ram and co-driver Mohd. Mustafa. 

The six day long stage of the Desert Storm rally was flagged off from Ahmedabad on February 20, 2012. The Xplore stage required participants to drive across 3,500 kms across the Rann of Kutch, Bhuj, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Pokhran, Thar, Bikaner and Jaipur to conclude in Delhi. 

The Tata Sumo Gold vehicles that bagged two podium finishes are available in the market with two engine options , a BS4 compliant turbocharged commonrail 3.0- litre diesel engine that develops 85PS of power and a BS3 compliant turbocharged direct injection diesel engine that develops 70PS of power.
