Renault And Nissan Tease Their Hyundai Creta Rival For India

Renault has pulled the wraps off its new car - the Renaultsport R.S. 01 at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. This new racecar will debut in the forthcoming 2015 Renault Sport Trophy, a new competition which will be organised under the umbrella of World Series by Renault Championship.
The new Renault R.S. 01 is 4,710mm long, 2,000mm wide and 1,166mm tall, with a 2,744mm wheelbase and 1,675mm front and 1,624mm rear tracks. This track-focused model features a front lower splitter which channels the air flow into extractors installed behind the front wheels. These extractors run along the doors and change their shape to turn into intercooler scoops to aid cooling.
The rear end features massive wing and diffuser as well as LED taillights and a twin exhaust arrangement. The race car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels developed by Michelin tyres. Other features include a steel roll cage with a combination of a double wishbone and pushrod suspension underpinning the car.
Built in collaboration with Dallara, an Italian chassis manufacturer for motoring series, the Renault R.S. 01 boasts of a carbon monocoque which meets the LMP1 regulations. The new track-focused model is equipped with Nissan GTR’s 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine which delivers more than 500PS of power and a staggering 600Nm of torque. The new race car sends its power to the rear axle via a seven-speed Sadev sequential gearbox allowing the vehicle to hit a top-speed of more than 300kmph.
The new race car has been priced at Rs 2.8 crore (exclusive of taxes and duties) and will hit the tracks in its own racing series in mid-2015.
