Roaring Champions drag race held in Mumbai

Roaring Champions the country’s first night lit drag race was held at Vasai on the outskirts of Mumbai. The first edition of Roaring Champions drag race was organised at Yashwant Smart City, a new layout of 55 acres in Vasai East and was open for both cars and motorcycles. The drag race event was approved by FMSCI and was jointly promoted by the Ameya Group of Companies and Elite Octane. It was Biren M. Pithawala of Mumbai who clocked the fastest time of the day in the H3 (foreign cars – 3001 to 4000cc) category at Roaring Champions. 

Pithawala was driving a tuned Nissan GTR supercar and he dismissed the quarter mile in 11.838 seconds. The unseasonal rains during the weekend did interrupt the event and the participants felt that timings would have been better had the surface remained dry throughout. Second place in the H3 category was clinched by Shubham Lad behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 while Samit Satish Naik finished third.

K2 ( Diesel cars from 1451cc to 1750cc): 1. Shubhodeep Ghosh (Bangalore) - 16.186s, 2. Vivek Ramchander (Bangalore) - 16.288s, 3. Veeresh Prasad (Bangalore) - 16.552.

K3 ( Diesel cars from 1751cc to 2050cc): 1. Vivek Ramchander (Bangalore) - 15.113s, 2. Shubhodeep Ghosh (Bangalore) - 15.159s, 3. Niranjan Todkari (Pune) - 17.233.
