New 2015 Ford Figo Launch on 23 September

It's pretty clear the way Ford is going, they want to make space for themselves in the hatchback segment. A place that they held for a brief while when the car was first introduced. And to do just that, Ford will bring in the Figo hatchback in a new avatar tomorrow. 

Up front, the Figo looks pretty similar to its compact sedan sibling. It has that massive chrome grille with four-slats and the large pulled back headlights we have seen on the Figo Aspire. At the back, the Figo manages to make its own identity with the neatly placed petal shaped tail lights and the smooth wave in the boot lid to add a bit of style. In profile too, the Figo hatchback manages to look fairly attractive. 

The Figo hatchback is expected to be offered with the same engine options as its compact sedan sibling. It will come with a 1.2-liter petrol unit that makes 70PS and 102Nm. It's diesel unit makes 90PS and 204Nm from a unit that displaces 1,495cc. Both these engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In the Figo Aspire, Ford also has a petrol automatic on offer. It will be interesting to see if the American car maker introduces an automatic gearbox option in the Figo hatchback as well. 

Going by the trend set by Ford with the Figo Aspire, the hatchback too is expected to come loaded with features. From Bluetooth telephony, AUX, USB connectivity to ABS and Airbags, the Figo will come equipped with the works. Keeping in mind that the Figo Aspire starts at Rs 4.90 lakh, we expect the Figo hatchback to be priced competitively too. We expect it to range between Rs 4.25-7 lakh. The Ford Figo hatchback will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Tata Bolt.
