Mahindra XUV 5OO draw winners announced

The country’s leading SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra, have concluded the XUV 5OO draw and picked out the lucky winners. Of the 25,000 plus applications received, only 7,200 lucky customers will be handed over the keys to their brand-new car as was laid out by Mahindra in its terms and  conditions prior to conducting the draw. In its second phase, the bookings were open in 19 cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh / Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik for a 10-day period.

The winning applicants will be notified by their respective dealerships and the winning serial numbers will also be posted on the brand website from 5 pm on February 15, 2012. Applicants can also call up a toll-free number provided on the site to check the draw results. The not so lucky ones will be refunded the entire booking amount of Rs. 80,000.

The draw was initiated by Mahindra following the phenomenal response to the XUV500 after its launch late 2011. To ensure that the draw process is conducted fairly, Mahindra had roped in audit firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd. (DTTIPL) as part of a mutual agreement between the two companies.

Winner of several awards, such as ‘2011 Car of the Year,’ ‘2011 SUV of the Year’ and ‘2011 Viewer’s Choice Car of the Year’ by ET-ZigWheels, the XUV 5OO has become the car of choice for just about any SUV buyer in the country. And for good reason too. The cheetah-inspired SUV has comfort, safety and technology equipment that are usually found in more expensive cars. The features include projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, climate control, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, ESP, hill descent control, six airbags, etc.

Why do all this when the car sells by itself. Something fishy, either there is no real booking or it's all marketing gimmicks to raise the price tag. Anyway its the success factor of the event manager to be managing it so well, is what it looks like

To be really precise, this car is not upto the standards of a class SUV. Though the price tag attached is not much but still for a comfort and stylish SUV u should go for fortuner instead.

I pity us Indians. We are being sold god-knows-pathetic contraption in the name of "SUV" by a 3rd rate Indian manufacturer and there are hordes of people in the Q to buy this piece of cr@p. There are already reports of XUV leaking diesel, suspension problems and problems with unsorted electronics. We Indians are pound-foolish-penny-wise. We see 1L discount and disregard everything else in competing offerings from reputed manufacturers (well, they too aren't that good but much better) and go for SUV by a tractor manufacturer. Soon, Mr. Mahindra will increase the prices by 1L-2L more but by then no one will notice since brand equity will be made and people having herd mentality will disregard price increases if there are so many people buy. Only Mr. Mahindra will be laughing all the way to the bank selling this piece of sh!t.

Is there any actual user experience of this XUV 500 available? Media and reviwers can have their own views which would be influenced by other factors. No Doubt, this has been tested well and launched very well.

I want to highlight some serious Quality issues of XUV500 within the first 4 months of ownership. Quality issues that I faced: 1. GEARBOX BIG PROBLEM. My vehicle in the very first week of my ownership, had this problem of gear NOT ENGAGING. The gear would not engage and after my strong complaint, Mahindra provided the required service to FIX THE PROBLEM. 2. INTERIOR a. glove box – The lid of the glove box would suddenly open when you are driving. I complained this to the Senior Regional executive who helped me out fix the GEARBOX problem earlier and demanded immediate replacement of the lid. He obliged and the vehicle was given for fixing this. GLOVE BOX LID STILL NOT WORKING even though they promised that it was replaced when I complained earlier. b.Infotainment software had problems twice within the first month of ownership and I was told the Software has already gone for 3rd revision with the bugs fixed from the earlier 2 versions. The Software would suddenly shut itself while driving. This software has a hands-free bluetooth connectivity which lets you sync your mobile with the system. I had this embarassment of this software suddenly shutting down in the middle of a call and I had to pick up the mobile and disconnect the call. 3. ENGINE DID NOT “START” a. Had this same problem 3 times in 2 days. It comes up with “CHECK ENGINE” symbol. When complained, I was told it is a Software Issue. ALL THESE PROBLEMS IN THE FIRST FOUR MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP ????????????

Mahindra's business strategy is not good that's why they did not grow like Maruti or TATA. When you have so much demand from customer why are you rejecting it? Try to increase your production but don't loose the order

People have gone overboard with the booking of this car. No doubt it's a solid looking car, but it still has to prove itself in terms of reliability. For the first time, Mahindra has launched a vehicle which has complex electronics on board, so we still have to see how reliable it is.

This is the first Indian company which has announced a lucky draw. I congratulate all the lucky winners of the XUV500 as this is a superb car. My son is keen on buying it but I wonder when I will manage to get it.
