After suffering a disappointing DNF last year and securing sixth position the two years prior to that, Karun Chandhok recently announced that he will return to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race this year as well. This year the historic race has been scheduled on 13-14 June.

The former Formula 1 driver who ventured into endurance racing in 2012 will return to the Le Sarthe circuit this year with the aim of becoming the first Indian to secure a podium at Le Mans. For the third consecutive year, Chandhok will continue to race with Murphy Prototypes in the LMP2 class driving the Oreca 03R Nissan-powered car.

Karun Chandhok said, “Le Mans is one of the greatest races in the world and my ambition to be the first Indian on the podium is still burning strongly within. I am happy to be back with Murphy Prototypes as we have always worked really well together. Nathanael (Berthon) was very quickly up to speed last year and now has a year of sportscar racing under his belt and Mark (Patterson) has improved a great deal from when we raced together in 2013 so I think we've got a strong line up.”

Aside from the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, Chandhok will continue his run in the Formula E Championship with Mahindra Racing. With the historic race in June, Chandhok is going to have a busy season this May-June with Formula E races in Berlin, Moscow and London next month followed by the Le Mans test.
