Mahindra Reva has flagged off India’s first ever electric car expedition. The expedition comprising of three electric Mahindra E2Os will travel the length of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari covering a total distance of about 5000 kilometers. The expedition has been undertaken to demonstrate the usability and range that a modern electric car can offer.

Mahindra also wants to promote the other advantages of driving an electric car which entail quick acceleration, clean energy and in the case of the E2O, a small turning radius. Of course, as with all electric cars, a clutch free driving experience is also another aspect of the E2O that Mahindra will propagate during the course of the expedition which will touch 52 destinations along the way.

Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Mathew, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva said, “Mahindra e2o is the Mahindra Group’s endeavor to offer its customers a clean, smart and economical personal mobility solution and thus redefine sustainable urbanization. To create awareness of the benefits of electric mobility through Mahindra e2o, we are pleased to flag off the Goodness Drive. As a pioneer of electric vehicles and integrated mobility solutions in India, it is our effort to make EVs more accessible in order to build a cleaner tomorrow. By traversing this vast distance, our e2o’s will look to effectively dispel the range anxiety amongst customers and will demonstrate the cars ability to handle difficult terrain.’

The Mahindra E20 gets an electric motor, which produces 26PS of peak power and 54Nm of peak torque is mated to an automatic transmission that offers two driving modes, one for normal driving, the other for more power. The Mahindra e2o T2 goes from 0-50kmph in about 4.3-seconds and on to claimed top speed of 81 kph which gives it adequate performance for a typically crowded Indian metro city.
