(L-R): President & CEO, HMSI, Keita Muratmatsu with N.K Rattan at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that N.K Rattan, a senior board member, has resigned from the position of Vice President – Sales & Marketing. During his 12-year stint with the company, Rattan has held the role of Operating Head – Sales Planning and Marketing and Operating Head – Corporate Affairs.
Joining HMSI as head of sales in August 2000, he was responsible for setting up the sales and marketing operations in domestic as well as international markets.
N.K Rattan said, “I have enjoyed every moment of my association with Honda which has widened my horizons. The success we have enjoyed has been largely possible due to the consistent efforts of the entire team and continued support by the management. I now look forward to new accomplishment and challenges.”
Adding to Rattan’s resignation, Keita Muratmatsu, President & CEO, HMSI said, “Rattan’s extraordinary vision and leadership established HMSI and guided it to its position as India’s most innovative and fastest growing two-wheeler company. Rattan has made countless contributions to HMSI in the past decade, and has inspired the immensely creative associates and created a world-class executive team. His support and leadership has indeed been highly meritorious throughout his journey at HMSI.”
Today, HMSI is the third largest two-wheeler company in India. During the Thailand floods in the second half of 2011, the company did taste sour fruit with production going down. However, all that is past with HMSI recording a strong 46.66 percent growth in total sales for January 2012 selling 1,89,353 units in all.
