Ever since its debut, the Honda Activa has been the go-to scooter for the average Indian family. Not surprisingly, this made the Activa the highest-selling two-wheeler in India. However, the company has now set an all-new record by selling 20 lakh units of the Activa in just 7 months. This translates to one Activa being sold every 9 seconds!

Speaking on the occasion, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president of sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle Scooter India, said, “‘India Loves Activa’ is yet again amplified with this new milestone and the Activa continues to lead as the highest-selling two-wheeler in India. Now led by Activa, India is getting scooterised like never before. The Activa’s unprecedented popularity as the most preferred two-wheeler brand is due to its continued evolution ahead of times in terms of advanced features, unisex styling, mileage and convenience. Now, as cauterisation has started making rapid inroads in semi-urban and rural areas, Honda is confident that the Activa will continue to grow as the No. 1 choice of India.”

The Honda Activa 4G packs a BS-IV-compliant, air-cooled, 109.19cc engine. This unit makes 8PS of power and 9Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 51,324 (ex-showroom Delhi).

In the last 5 years, the Indian two-wheeler industry has seen a phenomenal growth in two-wheeler sales, 52 per cent to be precise. The majority of this share can be contributed to the scooter segment, considering the ease of use and practicality they offer. For gaining a stronger hold in the market, Honda2Wheelers have launched two new scooters targeted towards two completely different audiences. First among them is the Honda Cliq, a petite yet quirky looking scooter, and a more premium 125cc offering called the Honda Grazia.
